4 star ratingRoad to Hana in a nutshell! Larry was an excellent guide and driver. Good stories as we drove and good advice on what to see at the stops. We had a relaxed pace, saw beautiful sites and left the driving to others. Larry also kept us well fed with snacks, water and juice. Lunch was a huge bbq plate at Uncle Russel’s. We didn’t need dinner that evening!

5 star ratingRoad to hana This was a wonderful experience. Louie made the trip over the top. I compared a lot of tour companies and so glad I chose this one. Homemade hot lunch compared to premade added extra bonus. Louie's stories and experience made the trip something we will remember forever.

The road was beautiful and the views are amazing. The lunch was a bit underwhelming, but we really enjoyed the black and red sand beaches and the banana bread. It felt at times that we were rushing to grab a picture and rush off to the next place. We appreciated the snacks in the van and our driver seemed prepared for passengers that were feeling motion sickness.

What a great Road to Hana tour. Larry, our guide was fantastic. He provided so much insight in so many areas, the flora and fauna along the way and the history of the Island and Hawaii in general. He did a fantastic job driving as well on this crazy curvy road. The tour also provided us with plenty of food, drinks and snacks. The Huli Huli Chicken lunch was fantastic and more food than I could eat. I highly recommend this touring company!

5 star ratingMahalo Road to Hana sm group. 11/10 🤩 Our group tour was 6 solos (one mother/ daughter pair.) Such a fun group. When Charlie picked me up from the port he called to let me know when he arrived (communication 10/10.) When I got to him, he was helping a gentleman and his wife that were having trouble with a tour they booked elsewhere, he just wanted to make sure they got to where they needed to be safely (customer service 10/10.) On the drive to my group Charlie explained they are Hawaii owned and many guides are former military. Our guide for the Road to Hana was Uncle Louie. Louie has tons of stories and cracked us up all day! I thought the motion sickness claim was exaggerated...IT IS NOT. Even if you don't get sea sick, take bonine or dramamine to prep for this ride. Louie earned Uncle today for me...he saw I was feeling off (I do not get sea sick), went above and beyond to grab me some peppermints and ginger. Even brought them down to me on the beach at one of our stops. Tour itself, fun stories, cool history, beautiful stops, delicious snacks on board, lots of water, Aunt Sandy's banana bread and coffee yum, lunch huli-huli chicken that was sooo good and how those meals help the community 🥰. Uncle Louie kept us on track time wise, provided good safe guidance but also let us go play how we wanted always with a watchful eye. Staying with Louie was always an option as well. Unfortunately the back road from Hana home was closed for safety...so we did up and back. Made it back in plenty of time for all aboard as well. Port was 1st drop off to make sure. Thanks Charlie for setting up the stops and food. Also a big thank you for having your guides backs to customize as needed for the groups best interest. We ran across 3 other Mahalo groups and those drivers were fun as well. Watched each of them help others not in their group. We all knew we were in good hands. Mahalo 🌺 for the wonderful day! You guys are my recommendation 100%.

5 star ratingRoad to Hana - 5/5 The Road to Hāna is stunning, but it’s not for the faint of heart - over 600 twists and turns and 50+ one-way bridges (each way!) make it challenging to navigate on your own. Mahalo Tours makes the journey enjoyable, stress-free, and memorable. Doing this on your own is absolutely possible, but not with the ease and comfort that Mahalo Tours provides. Well worth the cost, in my opinion. Our guide, Adam, was fantastic: knowledgeable, approachable, and full of suggestions for photos and stops, from the lava tube at Black Sand Beach to the blowhole. He gave plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn about the area, and the small group made the day surprisingly social and fun — lunch conversations were a highlight. Some things that really stood out to me - Mahalo Tours cares about your comfort and experience. My wife has a medical condition that sometimes limits her ability to participate - none of this was an issue for Mahalo Tours, even when she broke out the cane to help her walk towards the end of the tour. They kept us going with snacks and water throughout the trip, and our guide joined us for lunch and talked about his life on the island which I thought was really nice.A key point for anyone booking: this is a guided experience to see Maui’s east side and its natural beauty, not a food tour, and not a shopping spree. There is a level of physical ability required if you fancy yourself a bit of an explorer and want to see as much as possible as quickly as possible, otherwise you might find yourself sitting near the bus waiting with your driver for your fellow adventurers to come back - not that there’s anything wrong with that. The locations we stopped at were absolutely stunning.Adam’s care, insight, and friendliness made the trip exceptional - I couldn’t recommend him or Mahalo Tours more.

The trip was lovely, however you need to know that it is a VERY long day with ALOT of driving. I was not warned beforehand but there are 621 curves in the road and because the northern road was damaged we had to do the same route back. If you get motion sick, be sure to take your meds. There are some nice stops along the way, but the main features of the Road to Hana, is the actual road. Which has beautiful scenery but the tour is really about driving in beauty so don't expect anything else.

I'd definitely recommend the Road to Hana to everyone as a tour (at least in advance for an overview). The road is curvy, narrow, and there's an incredible amount of traffic. On the tour, I could enjoy the view in peace and learned an incredible amount about plants and the history of Maui from the driver. For breakfast, there were muffins to go, with fresh fruit or chips in between, and local BBQ for lunch - very tasty. The road is long and therefore time is probably always too short. I would have liked more time at some stops, or I'd have liked more time for extra photo or market stops. Compared to my previous American experiences, the guide was relatively focused on the essentials, without any entertainment. The tour was well organized, and the pick-up from the accommodation went very smoothly.

5 star ratingMahalo is the tour to book for Road to Hana! This was our first time in Maui and the advice I got was to book a tour for the Road to Hana as opposed to driving it yourself. I’m glad I took that advice and I’m more glad that I ultimately booked with Mahalo Tours. After pricing out other tours, I kept coming back to the fact that Mahalo’s offering provided a meal on the trip instead of making that another out of pocket expense. Not only did we have an amazing meal at Uncle Russell’s included, but our guide Jason provided breakfast, fruit, snacks and drinks all along the way. This is a company that truly cares about the guest and the Aloha spirit and it shows. Our guide Jason was a one of a kind and really gave us an inside look at what true Maui is all about. Jason was born and raised in Maui and has family in Hana. He had so many friends along the way that we stopped and talked to. His friend Kai is a coconut farmer and gave us such a unique inside perspective of living in Hana off the land. Jason gave us so many tips and recommendations and showed us so many neat things we could eat and neat things to see at our stops. His expertise and willingness to share his home with us made it truly an unforgettable experience. Mahalo Jason!
